IPAF PAV
The IPAF Push Around Vertical (PAV) training course is designed to train operators on the safe and effective use of push-around vertical lifts, a type of Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP).
A breakdown of what IPAF PAV entails
Purpose: To equip individuals with the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely operate push-around vertical lifts, ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety regulations.
What are PAVs? PAVs are smaller, simpler static vertical lifts that don’t have mechanical drive and are manually maneuvered.
Course Content: The course typically includes both theoretical and practical components, covering topics such as:
• Introduction to PAVs.
• Pre-use checks, inspection, and function tests.
• Planning the route before operation.
• Safe operating methods and identifying hazards.
• Emergency procedures like emergency lowering.
• Legislation, regulations, and guidance related to PAV usage.
• Basic operational practice and maneuvering techniques.
Target Audience
The course is aimed at anyone who will be responsible for operating PAVs in the workplace, regardless of prior experience.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, delegates receive an IPAF certificate and a PAL Card (Powered Access Licence) which is recognized internationally and valid for five years. The PAL Card can be accessed digitally through the IPAF ePAL app.
Duration
The IPAF PAV training course typically lasts for half a day.
Prerequisites
No prior experience with MEWPs is required, although a working knowledge can be beneficial. Participants are expected to wear suitable PPE during the practical training, including a hard hat, steel toe boots, and a hi-vis vest or jacket.
