IPAF TRAINING - IPAF 3A & 3B
Description
IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) courses are recognised worldwide. IPAF is the worldwide standard for MEWPS (Mobile Elevated Work Platforms) training programs. Your certificate will enable you to operate mobile scissor and boom lifts (3a and 3b) for a period of five years.
Course Information
IPAF 3a and 3b courses are designed for individuals operating mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs). The IPAF 3a course specifically covers the use of mobile vertical lifts, while the 3b course includes the operation of mobile boom lifts. Both MEWP training courses address crucial aspects such as safety regulations, risk assessment, equipment familiarisation, operation techniques and emergency procedures. Participants acquire practical skills in operating MEWPs safely and efficiently.
What is Covered in IPAF Training?
IPAF training is specialised instruction designed for individuals involved in operating, supervising or managing the use of powered access equipment such as scissor lifts and boom lifts. The primary objective of IPAF training is to ensure that those working with such equipment do so safely and efficiently.
IPAF training encompasses various topics, including:
- Safe Operation: Proper operation of powered access equipment, incorporating pre-use checks and understanding the machine’s controls.
- Risk Assessment: Identification of potential hazards and evaluation of risks associated with using powered access equipment in diverse work environments.
- Machine Familiarisation: Understanding the distinct features and limitations of different types of powered access equipment.
- Emergency Procedures: Knowledge of emergency evacuation procedures, rescue plans and actions to take in case of equipment malfunction.
- Regulations and Standards: Familiarity with pertinent safety regulations and standards governing the use of powered access equipment in workplaces.
- Theoretical and Practical Training: A blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on, practical training to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the equipment.
- Harness Use: If applicable, training on the utilisation of safety harnesses and other personal protective equipment.
- Fall Protection: Understanding the significance of fall protection measures and how to implement them when working at height.
IPAF training is imperative for safeguarding the well-being of workers using powered access equipment and for adhering to regulatory requirements. It is often a mandatory prerequisite on construction sites and in industrial settings where such equipment is deployed. It’s important to note that the specific content and structure of IPAF training may vary based on the type of equipment being addressed.
